Honda to source new bike parts from India
Japan-built large capacity best-sellers to be built using parts sourced from low-cost countries
Honda could source parts for the VFR1200F from India
HONDA, the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer, could soon begin sourcing parts for the company's mainstream large-capacity machines from low-cost countries, like India, reports have said.
Honda believe the production methods of the company's Japan-built big bikes have changed significantly due to the recent economic downturn. Costs are now a bigger issue than ever, which is part of the reason the company are now looking to source from low-cost countries.
“We have not finalised any plans yet but the future is likely to see some sourcing from India for our bikes assembled in Japan,” a company official told Indian reporters at a Honda press conference.
