New factory gets go ahead to meet increasing demand from world's second-largest motorcycle market
HONDA JAPAN are to invest £68.7 million into a second motorcycle production plant in India to meet rising demand from the world's second-largest motorcycle market. The new factory, which Visordown revealed was on the cards over two years ago, will be located in the north-western Rajasthan state and will become operational from the second half of 2011, with an annual capacity of 600,000 units.Plans are also underway to expand Honda's existing plant in northern Haryana state to 1.55 million units from 1.25 million units by the end of the month and further raise it to 1.6 million units in 2011.Motorcycle sales in India rose 19 percent in 2009 to nearly 9 million units, behind China's 15 million-plus units.
Better investing in a condom /birth control plant, the population is bursting at the seams now. In another ten years there'll be no space to stand let alone ride a motorcycle and with the rate of industrialisation no more land left to grow food crops.
