Honda to cease motorcycle production in Spain

Workforce slashed as bike production moves to Italy

YOU KNOW the worldwide economic situation must be bad when Honda halt motorcycle production, but that's exactly what they're planning in Spain.

Latest reports say the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer is ceasing production at the company's Spanish plant, due to the lack of demand for new machinery

The factory, in Santa Perpetua, will now focus on producing injected plastic panels and other ancilliaries, rather than complete motorcycles. The decision means Honda's Italian factory will now produce machines to satisfy the gap left by the defunct Spanish plant.

It's reported Honda will downsize the Spanish factory's workforce from 340 employees to just 180.
