FORMER WORLD AND BRITISH Superbike Champion Neil Hodgson is currently instructing winter trackdayers at Almeria Circuit in Spain as he embarks on a new venture with Europe’s leading track day organiser, Focused Events.
Since an injury forced a premature end to his racing career the thirty-six year old has taken up his role with Focused Events with a great deal of enthusiasm and greatly enjoys passing on his vast experience to keen pupils. Neil has signed up to exclusively instruct at the well-organised events across Europe and the UK.
Neil said, “When you’ve been racing as long as I did, you need something like this to remind you how exciting it is to get out on track for the average road rider. I love instructing and seeing how small changes can make a big difference to riders’ speed and confidence. I came out on a Focused Events trip last year as I prepared for my return to BSB and I was really impressed with the organisation and the safety considerations. We’re running transponders on the bikes so we can easily gauge the right ability for riders and move them into the right groups. I’ve got a full line-up of events for European and UK trackdays, it’s a great opportunity.”
Neil joins a stellar cast of instructors at Focused Events including Niall Mackenzie, Jamie Whitham, Steve Plater and John Reynolds, to name but a few, who between them have incredible experience in not just racing but all elements of road and track riding as well as bike set-up.
Pupils are not only taught by World class instructors, Focused also visits some of Europe’s most exciting MotoGP and WSB circuits including Valencia, Jerez, Le Mans and Portimao. Closer to home all major UK tracks including Silverstone, Donington, Brands Hatch, Cadwell Park, Oulton Park, Mallory, Thruxton, Snetterton and Anglesey are in the comprehensive Focused calendar.
Bikes are also available to hire with Supersport machines available from Ducati, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha.
