EVO magazine have announced that KTM will debut its X-Bow sports car at the Geneva Motor Show this March.

Visordown first scooped the story of the X-Bow last year but EVO scooped the X-Bow for real at their visit to the Austrian motorcycle company's factory where they were told that three prototypes were under construction, two for testing and one for display at Geneva. The X-Bow uses an Audi-sourced turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder drivetrain with a six-speed manual gearbox or, optionally, Audi's DSG semi-auto unit.

The X-Bow is to be an elemental sports car in that KTM has tried to keep absent anything that does not make it faster. In fact, initially the X-Bow was to be co-developed with Audi, plans that were scrapped after Audi insisted the car be equipped with airbags and other safety equipment. KTM has even forgone such niceties as a proper windscreen to prevent having to equip the X-Bow with wipers and a defroster, as in accordance with European law.

Weighing in at just over 800kg with the manual transmission, the X-Bow's standard 220 horsepower should produce some impressive acceleration figures. The X-Bow appears to be more of a trackday toy than daily transport, but rest assured, there will be at least a few buyers who feel their Lotus Elise just isn't sporty enough for their daily commute.

KTM is planning on the first production versions of the X-Bow to hit the streets by the end of the year.
