John Surtees, 75, drives from England to France in style
FORMER world motorcycle champion John Surtees has hit the headlines by becoming the first person to drive a private car through the Channel Tunnel.Surtess, 75, took an alternative-fuel Ginetta sports car from England to France as part of the annual Beaujolais Run.Stopping at the mid-point way below the English Channel, Surtees signed the wall, which is a Eurotunnel tradition.Speaking to Sky News, Surtees said: "It's a unique experience driving through this tunnel like this."It could get a little bit claustrophobic, it's a sports car that would be more at home on the track."But as you get older you don't get too many first time experiences, and this is certainly that."
