Bradley Smith...riding for Aprilia in 2008

VISORDOWN CAUGHT up with Britain’s rising GP star, Bradley Smith, at Polaris World's Aprilia press conference in London.
So Bradley, why aren’t you at school today?
“I’ve finished, done everything and decided to prioritise my racing.”
Are you confident for next weekend at Qatar?
“Confident but not over confident. I know there is a lot of work to do this weekend at the test, so we need to keep our focus that we have shown at the first tests and carry it through to the race.”
How much better is your Polaris Aprilia compared to you Honda last year?
“The thing is in 125s everything is so close, you are talking a second. To normal people this is ‘wow, I’m quite happy to wait a second’, but for me it’s a big, big difference.”
Do you consider yourself a challenger for the title?
“No, it’s not my target or ambition for next year. It’s not something I’m thinking I have to finish this position or that position. I’m just taking it one race at a time. If I’m there and I have the chance to ride for it then sure, I’ll give it 100%, but it’s not in my mind at the moment.”
Where do you see your career path going?
“I hope to end up in MotoGP, it’s the elite class in my sport and that’s where everyone wants to be. But I don’t now how far that is away. I know there is 20-22 people maximum that get on the grip each year and to get the chance to get on the door is an honour in itself. Hopefully one year I will be there.”
