First Look: Wakan Cafe Racer

'A glorious mixture of nostalgic appearance and bang up-to-date technology' say Wakan

Wakan's Cafe Racer - how cool is that?

IT'S A race version of the Wakan cafe racer, there's no news yet on price and to be honest with you, it's here because we happen to think it's a terrific-looking bit of metal that's been done so, so well.

Billed as 'Riveting attention to detail, fit and finish: a glorious mixture of nostalgic appearance and bang up-to-date technology,' the Special S&S 50th anniversary Track Racer would make us cross the road to drool all over it.

Note to Triumph: THIS is what you should be doing with the Bonnie.

I don't agree - the Bonneville isn't groundbreaking or especially good looking, but I think the Vokan looks plain ugly, like someone's assembled a pile of bolt-ons.

DJ Mawds

I quite like that.

It would certainly turn a few heads at the local meet.

Speedy.

Why would Triumph do something like that with a bonny when they have a speed triple?.

The Bonny is like a Harley sportster, they are what they are and you get what it says it is on the packaging, some people want a bit of nostalgia and that is what the bonny does, its a bit like saying they should make the America faster.

I dont know writes the comments for the news but they dont seem to have much of an idea.

Oldgit - get an eye test.

T509speedy - There's no mention in the article of performance, practicality or usability.

Just look at it, man. You've got to admit it's fit.

Hairy Ben
Whether it looks good or not. That's not what I'd call a 'cafe racer'.

x2zero

agreed, it doesn't fit what springs to my mind as a traditional cafe racer, though as a "next-generation" one it seems a fair description, minimal fairings, sleek tail, I think it's pretty cool and perfect if you don't want to have a brand new old bike like the remade Enfields, and the current bonnevilles which are great, but not pushing any boundaries...

mates with unreliable triumphs, sat in garages going no where... old triumphs, yep, in there day they were king, but the modern ones,,,, NO THANKS.

To me its been the reverse, the older one unreliable due to age and the newer ones being quite good and reliable, I have had no more problems with mine than I have with Japanese bikes, I would say from experience they are much better quality than the jap bikes I have had, however the parts and service is well expensive.

Speedy.

Alarms aren't really a reflection of a bikes quality, one of the reasons I wont have an expensive alarm fitted is due to the aggro I have had in the past with alarms and complaints from neighbours and unless you have one that screams rape or fire no one takes any notice of them anyway.

You mean his crank seized because of liner contamination.
