PIAGGIO IS going to put its hybrid MP3 three-wheeler scooter on sale to the general public this summer.
First shown as a protoype at the 2007 Milan Show, it's the usual type of thing with the bike, conventional engine over 40kph then at any speed below the electric motor cuts in and takes over, keeping emissions low.
While in Italy the government has already approved big subsidies to promote hybrid machines the price for the rest of Europe is yet to be confirmed, but is expected to be around £8000.
Not cheap, no sir.
