Visordown Motorcycle News

YOU'RE LOOKING at the latest concept in the electric bike scene - the MOTOrepublic Beta.

Details are sketchy but the machine features composite bodywork, which also doubles as the frame, lightweight wheels and an emission free electric motor.

It looks cool to us. Wonder if it'll feature in this year's emission-free TT event?!

Potentially different...

When they can make an electric bike with the performance, handling and range of a petrol one, call me.  Until then I'll keep on burning dinosaurs.

I don't think it's that far away, bluebandit.

Vectrix have been displaying a 'superbike' with 120+mph top speed (but limited range), and ZERO have a very capable offroader, and soon to be showing a road legal version with 70+mph top speed, performance on a par with a 250 enduro, and 150 mile range.

Still a way to go, obviously, but it won't take long. The biggest obstacle, as with any new technology, will be price.

It'll happen, of that I've no doubt.  Better yet would be make them look like "proper" bikes, not some kind of Star Trek prop, and as you say - price.  They will be expensive at first, then the price will come down - unless everyone waits for the price to come down!

I like, no love, the idea of "emission free" electric bikes. However they are not emission free are they? All that happens is that the fossil burning is done somewhere else i.e. a power station. Great idea if we had a huge amount of nuclear power stations, but as we don't i cant really see the point.
