First Look: Luca Bar Aprilia 5.5 Street

Another stunning concept from Italian design guru

Luca's take on Aprilia's SXV550

ITALIAN design guru Luca Bar has turned his hand to Aprilia's SXV 550 - the result is this striking machine dubbed the Aprilia Street.

The angular look, underslung exhaust and kicked-up rear end make Luca's design look like a cross between Aprilia's Mana X concept bike and a KTM Duke.

We like it. Come on bike manufacturers; give this bloke a full-time job!

Not sure about the cowling wrapping itself around the forks. If they were shorter think it'd be nigh on perfect.

The sliencer looks as if they forgot to design one when they done the original concept and then had 1 hour to knock one up, looks good otherwise.

Another bike that looks like it has been pre-crashed.

sooner have a Yamaha 660 MT-OX [least I think thats what its called]  supermotard anyway

Looks a bit like the KTM RC series -- especially with the underslung exhaust. The supermotard version was illegal in California for awhile (didn't stop people from purchasing / riding them anyway) but now they're available for the (paultry) sum of (roughly) 7900 pounds.

Nice idea thou.

YUK YUK YUK SPEW PUKE.

Normally I don't respond to these sort of threads, but this heap of nasty garbage warrants a bit of extra effort.

Not that my opinion matters one bit, I am not about to buy a new bike anyway. I'd sooner have a Honda Pacific, or one of those 'orrible BMW things that I can't remember the name of. I'd rather walk. Or a 1928 Squirrel or whenever the smoky Scott things were made.  Or come to that, a Raleigh Runabout.

A Triumph Ariel 3?   HMMM.  Maybe an Ariel 3 compares to this Aprilia thing evenly.  The Ariel 3 is more useful though, it has a basket on the back for your shopping.

Anyway my soninlaw was on the back of an Aprilia Mille when it hit the kerb, flew into the air, and the frame snapped completely in half when it landed.  So if you want a bike that breaks in two when you crash, get an Aprilia.

so no other bike ever snapped a frame after a crash so fast that it became airborne then

Striking maybe, but not good looking, imo

That looks very nice. Would look a lot better with a litre Rotax in it

Better still with a litre of unleaded poured over it followed by a lit match
