Fight Government's Travel Tax proposal

ROAD PRICING is the latest buzz-word from the Government. They propose to introduce road pricing, called 'Travel Tax' which will be centered on a tracking device that not only comes with a monthly charge but it will also mean the device's whereabouts are known at all times, through GPS tracking.

Estimated cost for the device will be between £150 and £200 and according to a BBC study; the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery driver. A full-time mother who used the car to take her kids to school paid £86 in one month. This is a massive increase in tax and it's not even stealthy.

Although some insurance companies in the UK are already using a similar device for a pay-as-you-go insurance scheme - where they could, in theory, calculate your speed at any given time - the scheme is optional.

If this proposal were given approval, it could be the first rung on the ladder for the Government to monitor speeds and issue automatic speeding tickets for those found breaking the limit.

Hype surrounds this issue, but the fact remains: it's bad news.

We urge you to sign the petition on No 10 Downing Street's website and pass this onto your friends.
