Mighty 1200GS ... but 800 could be on the cardsTHE BMW GS was always a favourite of the seasoned BMW rider, but since Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor took their 1150GSA on a soul-searching voyage across Europe, the GS brand has become synonymous with those wishing to express their desire to break free from the humdrum of modern life.
But the massive stature of the 1200GS puts off a lot of potential buyers, who are too scared they'll fall foul of the 225kg of German engineering. Probably at the hands of a forgotten disc lock..
It's no surprise that an 800GS could be on the cards, to bridge the gap between the single-cylinder 650GS and the mighty 1200GS Adventure.
If produced, it's likely the 800GS would use the same parallel twin found in the F800S. The 800GS would feature rugged off-road styling and have genuine off-road capability. Expect to see engine bars, aluminium luggage, weird headlights and a lot of them parked at Boxhill on a Sunday morning.
