Extra cops for the Bulldog Bash

Warwickshire Police warn of extra security measures for this year's Bulldog Bash

EXTRA POLICE officers are being drafted as part of a "significant policing operation" around the Bulldog Bash from 7 to 10 August.

According to reports on the BBC, Warwickshire Police had urged councillors not to grant a licence for next month's Bulldog Bash, fearing reprisals for the shooting of Gerry Tobin on the M40 after last year's event.

Now, officers have said that they would be searching people attending the festival.

Five roads around the show will be shut with police using ANPR systems to check all vehicles attending.

Asst Chf Con Bill Holland told the BBC: "Warwickshire Police is committed to protecting the community from harm and we believe that the road closures are necessary to ensure maximum effectiveness for the policing operation.

"We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and would like to assure residents and businesses that we will do everything in our power to keep disruption to a minimum whilst maintaining public safety."

Or maybe we could cause as much disruption as possible and prove ourselves to be a royal pain in the arse and lose a what tiny bit of respect that the public may have for us, whilst handing our tickets for loud cans and small number plates.

Everyone elses fun has been cancelled this summer. I find it amazing that the Buldog is being allowed to go ahead especially when possible trouble from rival gangs had been named as one of the reasons the other rallys have not been allowed to go on.

Lets hope eveything goes ok & gives the authorities no excuses to repeat this summers cancellations

Total pi5h.

The Bulldog has run for years with zero trouble, then a guy gets shot AFTER being there, and the whole thing is called into question.

The Police should apply the same principle to Glasgow city centre after a Rangers v Celtic match...... there have been more murders after this drunken thuggery display than there will ever be at a gathering of bikers.

The fact that the Police are now objecting to just about every bike rally on the grounds of safety after one shooting is just pathetic.

A mockery of a sham of a shambolic mockery. Or some othersuch twaddle.

at the NABD rally this year there where loads of robberries (Aparently nearly 2k went missing) and there wasn't a policeman in sight.  My sister was one of the ones robbed and on phoning the poice they asked

'havn't you got your own security there?'

'dosn't look like it' replied she

and after much grumbiling the police turned up and proceded to ask her how much she drunk to not be able to hear someone coming into her tent!

The whole thing was rather sad, the sataurday was spent with everyone looking over their shoulders and not trusting complete strangers.  That's not what rallies are about.

(Rant over...sorry)

Huw

I was at the NABD rally, and just a few tents down from someone whom was robbed. It's not the first rally I've been to where there was theiving.

Wherever you have such a big gathering of people you will get the odd theif, no one came in my tent that weekend, and I have never been robbed at a rally, but I keep my money and bike keys on me at all times, at night they are in my sleeping bag with me.

The robberies where quite random, I always wonder how a theif selects a victim, I was smashed that weekend and was as fair game as anyone.

Some people blame the organizers but I don't think thats very fair, you can't expect them to stand over your property all weekend.
