Now everyone can ride a 1200GS - well almost...

BMW MOTORCYCLES have announced several packages to lower the seat height on a selection of their models for 2008. Depending on model this will bring the seat height down about 55mm (a little over 2.in). The packages will be available upon request as an option and will be installed at the factory.

Depending on individual height especially less experienced riders feel more comfortable with both feet firm on the ground when standing or maneuvering their motorcycle, a demand BMW will be catering to by this new offer.

Models for which the lower seat option will be available include:

Model: R 1200 RLowered Seat Height: 750 mmStandard Seat Height: 770 mmAvailable: Spring 2008

Model: R 1200 GSLowered Seat Height: 790 mmStandard Seat Height: 820 mmAvailable: Spring 2008

Model: R 1200 RTLowered Seat Height: 750 mmStandard Seat Height: 780 mmAvailable: Spring 2008

Model: F 800 S/STLowered Seat Height: 760 mmStandard Seat Height: 815 mmAlready available

Model: F 650 GS Lowered Seat Height: 765 mmStandard Seat Height: ---Available: Spring 2008

Basis for the lowered seat height on all models is a lowered chassis. In combination with the already available lower seats this leads to an even lower seating position than thus far possible. For the R 1200 R and R 1200 RT the option of the lowered seat has been further improved and will be available also without any changes to the chassis.
