EWAN McGregor's motorbike that was put up for auction has raised £22,100 to help children affected by natural disasters or wars.

The Star Wars actor put his Moto Guzzi California Vintage bike up for auction on eBay to raise money for Unicef, the children's charity he is an ambassador for.

Fiona Hesselden from Unicef said: "Unicef would like to thank Ewan McGregor for auctioning his much-loved motorbike, which has raised the sizeable sum of £22,100 for our work with children globally.

"This money will support Unicef's Children's Emergency Fund, helping children such as those in Zimbabwe or the Democratic Republic of Congo who so urgently need our help at this time."

Well done Obi-wan! Never mind Oscars, maybe we should put him forward for an Ace Rimmer-"what a guy".

Looking forward to another "Long Way" if he can spare the time....

Don't know about 'Ace Rimmer' - seems more like an 'Arse Rimmer' to me.

Although I do appreciate that the proceeds are going to charity ...you need a gimmick to get rid of a a MG. They are ferkin ugly bikes.

One man's meat and all that Nige.... it's no good getting a bit pissy because you know you should have bought an LT. You probably only need a summer bike though.

Big Nige

I've had an LT and liked it a lot

Not the worlds most attractive bike ever though, ya have to admit.

Gotta say the rear needs a redesign. The panniers don't add much to the aesthetics.

Is yours the facelift one with the funky hydraulic centrestand?

I think that's a cracking gadget that.

AC

Yep! Excellent bit of kit. Looks very flash at the petrol station ... bit shit on gravel though - not to be trusted.

It's also fucking awful if you use it on a slight uphill gradient.... can't get enough leverage  to push the big bike off it ...as I found out
