DUCATI'S MOTOGP replica, the Desmosedici RR, was unveiled yesterday at Alfardan Motorcycles Centre in Khalifa Town, Qatar.

This bike will retail for QR250,000 (£33,550) and one has already been sold to a client in Qatar with nine more punters ready to rock.

The thirty-three grand package includes free maintenance for three years, a racing exhaust kit, and the Ducati Data System, which gives the rider their performance figures on a display fitted to the bike. The figures can be uploaded to a USB key and then transferred onto a PC at a later date.

Luca Pierotti, Ducati Export Manager, said: "The idea was to give the customer the same feeling as Ducati's GP riders. It is the first ever bike to offer the same technology that is put at the disposal of MotoGP riders."

"It weighs 170kg only 20kg more than the GP model because of the weight of headlamps, mirrors and exhaust fitted with catalytic converter to meet pollution standards. Other than that it's the same."
