Ducati 1199 Panigale recalled in the US

Faulty switch could lead headlight and clocks to fail

DUCATI is recalling the 1199 Panigale in the US over a faulty handlebar switch which could lead the headlight, clocks, horn and indicators to fail.

The recall hits 2,083 1199 Panigale and Panigale S models made in 2012 and 2013.

A statement published by the US’ National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said: 'Ducati North America (Ducati) is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 1199 Panigale and Panigale S motorcycles. The left handlebar switch may not get power from its connection at the dashboard, preventing the horn, instrument panel display, high beam and right turn signals from functioning.... The rider's inability to use the horn, right turn indicators and high beam could increase the risk of a crash.'

The recall is expected to begin on May 16 with Ducati contacting owners and offering a new wiring harness free of charge.
