Hansen will use Desmosedici for track instruction

AN AMERICAN MOTORCYCLE fanatic has unique plans for his new Ducati Desmosedici RR.
Unlike many owners, who plan to keep their new machines for occasional use only, Mason Hansen, 33, is planning to use his £40,000 MotoGP replica for instructional puproses, while working at CLASS Motorcycle Training in California.
"I'm going to ride it on tracks," he said. "But I'm not going to race it."
Hansen also runs a motorcycle dealership with his father, with franchises for BMW, KTM and Triumph but not Ducati. But although the American is over the moon with his new multi-thousand pound purchase, he's already found this is no street-softened replica:
"It's like riding a board with a rocket on it," he said. "It's also so stiff - the first time I rode it I ached like hell the following day."
Hansen can't verify whether he received his bike before Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise but he does know he was near the front of the queue when he took delivery of his Desmosedici on February 8th.
"I was the first of seven to receive one in this country," said Hansen.
"It's the pinnacle of what you can buy and I've got one," he said.
