Cops: Ride illegally and lose your home

'Zero tolerance' approach to nuisance bike louts

VISORDOWN TOLD you of one scheme where council tenants could lose their homes if they were caught with unregistered off-road bikes, now it seems a similar scheme has surfaced in Carlisle.

According to BBC Wales, Police and landlords in Carlisle are warning illegal bikers they could face court action and losing their home.

It turns out that both Cumbria Police and the Carlisle Housing Association (CHA) have begun a programme of action after mounting numbers of complaints about motorcycle riders from people in the Harraby area.

Both organisations now promising a "zero tolerance" approach to riders who bother residents with extra police patrols being mounted in the area with officers using helmet cameras to gather evidence.

A Cumbria force spokesman said: "This is something residents are understandably concerned about.

"Let me assure people that all contact with the police and CHA is completely anonymous and by providing us with your name and contact details we can inform you when action against individuals has been taken."

A spokeswoman for CHA, which is responsible for 6,200 properties, added: "We should all feel safe in the areas we live.

"We will continue to take action against those who believe this sort of behaviour is acceptable and may pursue the repossession of homes as part of a raft of measures." .

Council tenants can't afford to buy their own homes but can afford to buy all the necessities of life, motorbikes, big screen TV's, fag’s, booze, designer cloth’s etc. Talk about shitting in their own nests. But then again, it’s not their own nest is it, the taxpayers provide it. Then why not use your neighborhood as an illegal race track, graffiti board or a rubbish dump for old car bodies, furniture and used disposable nappies. If people don’t like the noise or lifestyle, they can get the Foook out and find somewhere else to live.

Eojmo what a load of rubbish you talk. Have you seen the council rent prices they are not cheap. The council stock has ben paid many many times over by the tennants who have been treated like crap by the councils for years and get nothing in return. There are many more good tennets than bad and many more good bikers than bad as well we know. Thing is if these get booted out the council must rehouse them by law. Lose your job miss a few morgage payments and see where you end up.

Probably in the line for a council house, beats being a morgage slave to a bank or building society.Best of all, no maintenance costs, so no more weekends spent painting or upkeeping my own place, i'ts an expensive never ending job. I'll be happy to just pay rent and have more free time for riding.
