Confederate suing motoring website

Defamation lawsuit over writer describing bikes as 'unreliable'

CONFEDERATE MOTORS is suing a motoring website and publisher over allegations of defamation.

In an opinion piece from New York Auto Show, jalopnik.com's Wes Siler described the three models made by Confederate as, "scary pieces of rolling robotic art’

He went on to say: "And we mean rolling literally, because, according to anecdotal evidence from multiple owners and former employees, Confederate's motorcycles have proven so unreliable that you'll probably have to push them. In fact, it's surprising to see them at the New York Auto Show today since last we heard the Alabama-based company was being sued so heavily in state courts by disgruntled owners that they were unable to do business here."

This lawsuit may be off-putting for reviewers world over if the American manufacturer are successful, with more companies possibly looking to sue magazines over negative reviews.

Pmsl. I thought pushing the thing home was part of the "character"? Buy a Brit, lads, you can bump start a bonnie with a weeks worth of camping gear on without giving yourself a hernia!

FJSRiDER.
If they win, Ducati could probably make more from comments on the internet than from selling bikes.

If it's anything like here, the defendants would only have to demonstrate that what they said or printed was true.

Odd isn't it that Robert E Lee wasn't a slaver and Abraham Lincoln wasn't an abolishionist.  A very ironic war.

Yeah, but it might explain why most Elmers seem to have a sense of irony bypass...

John..

A Yank tank that doesn't perform.

Duck boys and girl's, there could be a round of friendly fire here.

You cannot claim that a manufacturer is being "sued so heavily in courts by owners" - without having the information to back it up. Most of these "blog" journalists only give "nice" reviews for companies who provide them vehicles/incentives, so they are no different than print journalists for ad revenue. I read that Confederate was threatened that if they didn't provide a machine it would be a pr nightmare for them.
