BSB star fails his bike test

British Superbike Cup champion might win races on his 1098 but struggles when it comes to road riding

HE might be the British Superbike Cup Champion, but Northwest 200 Buildbase's John Laverty is rubbish at riding on the road.

The youngster, who has been impressing all with his pace on the mostly stock 1098 Ducati in the competitive domestic series, took the test last week and failed, much to the amusement of racing brothers Michael and Eugene.

He said: "It's very embarrassing really, but I'm going to take my test again as soon as possible. I can't let Michael and Eugene have the last laugh over this one!"

This should tell us something about the asinine nature of the test, but it won't.

Passed first time with no minors, I bet he failed on speeding!

I think it tells you more about the very different requirements for riding on the road vs riding on the track..

What iBurty said..too many riders equate being able to ride fast with being a good rider on the road..No doubt his machine control skills would have been exemplary but somehow I doubt that when riding around Donington he needs to have much awareness of traffic lights, roadsigns and the movement of oncoming vehicles

He might have gone for a gap to him was there but the examiner through a bit risky, same thing happened to Jenson Button when he took his driving test!

Alot of things are very much more difficult when riding slowly compared to when riding at speed.
