Rea...fighting fit - despite minor knee surgery

ULSTER'S NEW motorcycling superstar, Jonathan Rea, feels fit for next weekend's British Superbike meeting at Oulton Park, despite a minor operation to his right knee.

Rea said: "I aggravated an old injury when I was riding a mountain bike near my home a few weeks ago just prior to Knockhill. It faired ok in the race but I was in real pain at our Croft test day and I felt I would have to have a quick operation.

"It's not major surgery and I'm in no pain. But the operation was able to detect parts of an injury which happened to me when I was a moto-cross rider a few years ago.

Rea faces a vital round at Oulton for he is in second place only 11 points behind his team-mate Japanese rider Ryiuchi Kiyonari.
