£10billion estimate to repair the country's 2 million potholes
AN ESTIMATED 2 million potholes are now believed to be plaguing Britain's roads following the coldest winter in 31 years. With an estimated pothole every 120 yards, experts believe repairs will take more than 15 years and cost the tax payer over £10billion in order to rectify the damage (£5,000 a pothole? What are they filling it with - gold? - Ed).Bournemouth council has estimated pothole repairs to the county's road network will cost in excess of £2.5m. Councillor Robert Lawton, cabinet member for environment and transport, told BBC News: "The recent spell of cold weather has undoubtedly had an adverse effect on the road conditions, with the cycle of freezing and thawing water causing road surfaces to break up and produce potholes."
Really?
Mr Lawton said the council were "working hard" to rectify the situation.Visordown recently revealed the 'Jetpatcher' - a new pothole-mending machine aimed at reducing the cost of repairing Britain's broken roads.
Looks more like the councils have been counting the pot holes not fixing em? temporary reppairs are also now failing.
