BRAD PITT looks set to play actor and motorcycle legend Steve McQueen, in a new film about the late Hollywood star's life.

Several Grade-A stars have been linked to the role but a movie insider revealed Brad has secured the part, says a report in the Sun newspaper.

The source said: "He not only has the right look and acting talent but he shares Steve's love for fast cars and motorcycles."

It's reported the film will follow his onscreen career, which started with an uncredited role in Somebody Up There Likes Me and led to the success of Bullitt and The Cincinnati Kid.

McQueen passed away in 1980 after battling with cancer.

No offence to Mr. Pitt, but couldn't they get someone a bit, well, cooler?  McQueen was never about looks or acting talent....

Daniel Craig would have been a better bet.

Or James McAvoy? There's a lot of candidates, but I suppose a big name garuntees box office interest .

It's a shame. He deserves better than a pretty face...
