ACCORDING to hot rumours out of Germany, BMW is in the final testing phase of its replacement for the iconic K1200LT.

The new bike is apparently a 1600cc six-cylinder motorcycle with the by-now-usual-for-the-range host of electronic rider aids including the firm's ESA electronic suspension adjustment technology and huge hard panniers as standard.

The bike is due to be revealed at the Paris motorcycle show later this year and will go on sale early in 2010.

Wonder if they'll spoil it with stupid headlights?

FJSRiDER.

I don't know why Triumph are taking so long to do a Superluxmagatourerglide with the 2.3 motor.

A Trophy 2.3, all the bells and whistles, heated everything, drinks cooler, bitching' sound system and styled to look like Eurofighter caravan with more lights than Blackpool.  Give it a big enough tank for a 250/300 mile range and they would clean up.

Then do a sub-litre version of the longitudinal triple and take on the Dullvile/Blandit/newbie Cruiser market.

FJ - agree with you - that 2.3 motor is a perfect power plant for an LT or RT type bike.

I can only assume that Triumph don't want to go up against the Pan /FJR/ R12RT/K13GT for cost reasons.

It will be

              too big

                           too heavy

                                               too expensive

                                                                         and too ugly!

Will I be able to get the optional swimming pool and the sauna in the tail trunk?  Or will i be limited to just one of the two options?

How big is big enough?! 1600 is, I reckon, getting close to too much. Have you seen how much heat a GTR1400 pumps out? And for the record, I'm not a fan of the 2.3L Rocket lump. If you've ridden one, I'd be interested to hear what you think..

I haven't - but that is a good point.  Does the Triumph 2.3 chuck out proportionally more?

Mind you in the winter it could be a benefit..... so we just need them to design in some heat shielding for the summer and a way to duct it over the riders in the winter.

I never understand why BMW make their bikes so god dam ugly...the cars they make are beautiful (well most of them). To me they seem like they are always trying to be different, which is OK I suppose ...just not my cup of tea.

Tend to disagree with you - i have been using a K1200Lt since 2004 and commute with it daily. The looks and interest i get confirms to opposite. But whatever rocks your boat. LeRoy

Again Disagree with the GD ugly comment, I have a 1999 K12RS and I get so many complements on it every time I take it out.  People can't believe it's 11 years old.  It will still be a very impressive bike in 2015 and beyond.
