BMW K1300S ... rumoured to produce 165bhp

MORE details have emerged about the upcoming BMW K 1300 S, expected to make it’s debut at this year’s Cologne Motorcycle Show.

The new K 1300 S will use Duolever front suspension and, according to factory sources, is being highlighted as the single most important bike in the new BMW range, even eclipsing the S 1000 RR superbike.

The bike has been built as a marker for the 25th anniversary of the K series and should be available to buy from next February.

It’s motor will be a evolution of the current K 1200, taken to nearly 1300cc with apparently 165bhp on tap.

There are rumours of a new EXUP-style exhaust valve system being used on the new bike too alongside an all new clutch and gearbox specifically designed for the bike.

The aluminium frame is all-new too and the bike sheds weight by using the Duolever system up front. A sportier version of the bike, with uprated firmer suspension and close-ratio gearbox is also on the cards.

And there’s a good chance that there will be a naked version of the new bike too, although whether that will appear in Cologne or be postponed until the Milan Show later in the year is unclear.
