BMW R1200GS owners have been warned about a possible problem with the machine that could leave the handguards pressing on the front brake lever.

Owners have been told to check that the thread on the bolt that holds the guards in place is tightened properly.

According to the reports, the handguard could slip down and press on the brake lever and as many as 108,000 motorcycles around the world could be affected.

SAFETY WARNING: BMW Motorcycles Type GS, i.e. R1200GS may lock the front wheel and cause serious injuries for the riders

BTW: The figure 10,800 is wrong. Correct is 108,000 according to BMW.

World scoop.

Loose bolt on motorcycle could be dangerous.

I've checked these screws and they were tightened OK.

Do I need to do anything about the flat tyre, or should I wait for a recall?

AC

Don't knock the BMW safety campaign ... it's flipping dangerous ploughing a field with loose handguards... you might hurt a sheep or something.

NANNY STICKERS is the correct term, I do believe: "The official recall campaign (= voluntary corrective action) is a letter with a warning, a supplement to the manual and so called "nanny stickers".  These stickers have to be put in the handguards so everybody can see if hand guards and protector are in the right place"

Personally I do believe that (at least some) BMW-riders are a shame to all riders out there in the world. They need ABS. They are desperate without ABS. They need useless power assistance with brakes. They need heated grips. They need handguards. And they need much more, like ASC. Shame on them! And they cannot handle all that crap. They crashed with the ABS and now the crash with their handguards.

What are they for? Ask your nanny!

I see your gross generalisation, and raise you me sticking my tongue out and blowing a raspberry at you whilst waggling my hands on either side of my head.

Well I do strongly believe that handguards are for pussies only. And pussies crashed, broken ribs is what they got. Obviously they couldn't handle their nanny-crap. That's why they got now nanny-stickers.

Same with ABS. Why don't they just stop riding?

My opinion of BMW's changed when I got beat in a race by one a few years ago.

1 min 55 'round Jerez is a fair old pace.

beaten by a BMW? ever thought that might have something to do with your riding skills?

Posted: 27/07/2008 at 16:10

Ducati Pete

Rider was Jurgen Fuchs, using the meeting as a test for the series supporting motoGP.

I'm not bad, but I've never been good enough to get paid to ride.

When I appear on a building site, and I'm told that I have to wear a hard hat with visor and ear defenders, hi-viz jacket, steel toecapped boots overalls, and gloves - to walk onto a hotel site that is already trading, and has guests staying (none of whom are wearing the above)...

No, I don't think BMW are going over the top.

(This really happened, at the Jury's Inn hotel, Heathrow)

I thought there was only one bmw going round with charley boorman on it , dressed in all the gear with no idea..  You can not seriously suggest that all these sightings are all different people looking like him all dressed the same . That would suggest that there are a lot of sad twats out there that want to look like the long haired looser with a famous friend.  horses for courses I suppose.

But Boorman did at least know that BMW motorcycles are crap, his famous friend did not.

Anyway. Ducati Pete was beaten by a BMW. That's a sad story. It's all very, very sad when it comes to BMW.

Ducati Pete likes being beaten. Usually by some form of leather-clad woodland creature.

You're not a great fan of the blue and white roundel then I take it?

Ever ridden one?

I am a fan of motorcycles. BMW has nothing to do with motorcycles:

- linked brakes for pussies and faggots

- power assistance for pussies and faggots

- ABS for pussies and faggots

- ASC for pussies and faggots

- heated grips for pussies and faggots

- handguards for pussies and faggots

And there's on thing for sure: They like this shit. But doing this ABS-thing and the other pervert fun is like trying to fuck a sex doll but forgetting about the need of viagra. that's how it is. when it comes to BMW.

Just have a look at these nanny stickers!!!
