BMW 6-pack 'has the heart' of a new BMW model

BMW designer gives us a hint that the motor and drivetrain could power a new BMW

BMW'S 6-PACK CONCEPT bike above is just that, a concept. Yet in conversation with a leading BMW designer today at the Milan show, Visordown was told that although the 6-pack will never go into production, its likely that its straight-6-cylinder engine would be used in a new BMW touring model.

Fancy that, a new BMW tourer, with a 6-cylinder lump. BMW really have torn up their musty-old, coffee-stained rule book. Good on 'em.

Why? Why do companies make stunningly beautiful bikes that they will never produce? Surely it only makes the actual production bikes look like an anticlimax. If I had the chance to pay for Lucy Liu for the night and found Vicky Pollard waiting for me I don't think I would bother.

If I'd shelled out the cash and no-one was gonna find out, I probably would.

What the frack is the point of that?

At least the Mission 1 would be quicker, AND it looks more futuristic. Oh, and its real and can be actually bought... unlike yet another ICE (internal combustion engine) which has been styled beautifully to lead you onto yet another oh so dull rehashing of the same old memes..

futuristic looks dont always cover up old ideas - six cylinder engines have been done to death decades ago.*

As has the inefficient ICE.

the touring version does exist already  in prototype form - it is seriously fast

I understand the Engine and transmission were designed in England

If the engine will most likely be in a tourer, why don't they show the concept as a tourer? Obvious to me,then you have direct competion with the new Honda Pan and the Goldwing.
