Biker jailed after fleeing from Police

Uninsured 29-year-old dished custodial sentence after 100mph Nottingham chase

A NOTTINGHAM BIKER has been jailed for a year and banned from driving for two after he sped off at 100mph from a police check-point.

Gavin Davis, 29, from Leicester told Nottingham Crown Court he panicked because his motorbike was uninsured and he had no licence.
Davis claimed he was also in an 'emitional state following the death of his sister.

Police officers chased Davis through a Nottingham suburb at speeds approaching 100mph. Upon reaching Ruddington village, Davis mounted the pavement before crashing near a children's playground. Davis already had convictions for driving while disqualified and careless driving.

Judge Dudley Bennett said : "You could have killed someone the way he drove, including a little child," he said. "This was an absolutely appalling piece of driving."
