A BIKER died after hitting a Jaguar car and sliding into the central reservation on Monday night. Avon & Somerset police have appealed for witnesses.
The incident happened at about 7.10pm between junction 18-19 southbound, just before the turn off for the Gordano Services.
Police say that a motorbike travelling in the outside lane collided with the rear of the Jaguar, resulting in both vehicles losing control. The motorcyclist slid in the outside lane and hit the central reservation barriers. The Jaguar also hit the central reservation and then collided with a VW Golf.
The motorcyclist, a 40-year-old man from Bristol, was pronounced dead at the scene. Both car drivers escaped unhurt.
The Police are seeking any witnesses to the incident on the section of motorway between junctions 18-19 southbound. Anyone with information is asked to contact the CIU on 0845 4567000.
