Biker builds Gerry Tobin tribute

Fellow Hells Angel pays tribute to Gerry Tobin who was murdered on the M40 last year

'Dodge' with his Gerry Tobin tribute bike

A HELLS Angel has unveiled his tribute to murdered Gerry Tobin with a custom made motorcycle at this year’s Bulldog Bash in Warwickshire.

Mr Tobin was shot dead as he rode along the M40 motorway, on his way home from last year's Bash. The suspected killers are due to appear in court this October.

The bike build has been organised by 'Dodge' but others have also donated their time, services or parts free of charge in tribute to Mr Tobin.

“I’ve been planning it for about nine months. I think everyone, not just bikers but everyone in the country, was upset when they heard the news about Gerry," said Dodge.

“Lots of people were willing to donate their services and we’re really grateful. In the end it only cost us a few hundred pounds to buy the basic bike."

The bike features a custom paint job which features a picture of Mr Tobin.

This year police have stepped up security at the event, which takes place at Long Marston Airfield.

So anybody who wants a vehicle for self promotion can jump on the bandwagon. A biker was killed and I don't know him but people want to jump on the bandwagon and be seen as empathetic ..... How shite do peope need to be?

The article says "fellow Hells Angel" Wouldn't that be enough of a reason for the guy to have made the bike?

Can't think of a more fitting tribute to Gerry Tobin and a good way for his mates to channel their sorrow.

Maybe I am ... but perhaps you could explain why the late Mr Tobin deserves a tribute. It doesn't appear to be a random shooting of a biker - if that were the case my sympathies would be there - in the same way that I would sympathise with any biker that's been taken out by a car in an accidental manner.

Does the fact that he was a HAMC member have anything to do with what happened?

IME The majority of HAMC members generally ride around in vans so maybe painting a transit would have been more fitting.

Dodge is a top bloke and he is hardly jumping on the bandwagon if someone in his club was murdered. AC I think you need to get a grip.

As for whether Mr Tobin deserved the tribute, surely that is for people who knew or cared about him or fellow members of his club.

I am not a HA or nor am I ever likely to be.

It's not hard to feel empathy for a fellow human being who was shot for being a member of a club.  Unless you don't have many human traits of course.

I liked thehatchetman's comments. Gave a pretty good indication of his mentality. Of course he missed the point -

Why does he deserve tribute? I don't remember any claims that he supported charities or something worthy. He was a bike mechanic who pissed somebody off and was shot. The guy who built the bike doesn't claim to know him - so why all the fuss?

Speedy.

The Hells angels or any Back patch club are like a brotherhood ( or sister hood if its women in the wind ), everyone knows everyone, I can understand one or a few of them making a bike in tribute for one of their fallen brothers.  The part I cant understand is why it made news I cant, unless of course it was about the bike and we have pictures and shots of it, to admire.

But it was obvious the news was about fellow Hells angels making a bike for a fallen club members, which I mean no offence in saying that most people wouldnt care less here about and isnt really news, which begs to say why bother mentioning as a news article.

Anyway, if any HA are reading this, could we have pictures of the bike at different angles and with lists of specs, donor parts etc.  It looks a very nice old school style.

IIIrd

i guess made news as it was connected to such a high profile story.

fairplay to "dodge" for the effort making the bike, from the photo it looks bloody good. it'd be nice to think my mates would think enough of me to do the same if they could. despite any bad press the Hells Angels may get from the establishment, there dedication to eachother is an example to others

Did any of you go to the Bulldog Bash and actually see the bike? It was amazing and a wonderful way to pay tribute to their friend and brother.

Firstly may i thank those who understood why the bike was built, and a big FUCK YOU to those who don't. There was no self gratification expected, just a desire to show what a Gent Gerry was and that he was regarded as a true and rightous man who  deserved to be involved in the Custom show he loved, this seemed an appropriate way to keep him there.

I am no longer a member of the club but the bike remains where it should be, with the club. A fitting and lasting to tribute to man who was killed in a manner unfitting of a guy who eleted to live among the people he loved with honour and dignity and real caring.

As for the Transit van comment, Gerry was on his bike, flying his Patch and proud. As he always was. Why don't you pop your van round to me so i can paint it as a tribute to you. Cocks and lies all over it then!! Fuck you dickhead.

I think most people here understood why the bike was made, just you always get some assholes who want to be clever.

I dont know the guy personally, but I have known a few HA and some outcasts, Lost tribe, road rats etc in the past as nice as they were and aint as clear cut as a man killed on his way home to get his tea, you know that dont you.

You know, your be supprised how many people say that about the HA and vans, I personally havent seen a HA on a motorcycle for atleast 10 years, have see a lot of other clubs though.

Not defending the guy though.

BTW the bike looks the bees kness any chance of some more pics and some details.
