A SCOTTISH BIKER has admitted in court to speeding at over 166mph - the fastest speed ever recorded on a Scottish road.
Months ago, Visordown reported the news that Neil Purves initially denied the speeding charge, but latest reports state the hairdresser has entered a guilty plea to a charge of dangerous driving, after he was clocked at 106mph OVER the speed limit on his Suzuki GSX-R1000.
Purves, 27, was caught by traffic cops alerted by the noise from the bike's engine as he rode through the Borders on May 13, Peebles Sheriff Court was told.
Defence lawyer Graham Walker said: "The speed of 166 mph leaves most of us speechless and he is deeply ashamed.
"He undertook an advanced motorcycle training course after this incident but later decided to just sell his bike."
The sheriff said:"This is an extremely high speed and we should know all the background facts."
Purves now faces a jail when he's sentenced later this month.
