All seven accused jailed over M40 murder
"Expect to serve minimum terms of between 25 and 30 years" says judge
THE SEVEN men accused of murdering a Hells Angel motorcycle gang member on the M40 motorway last year have been jailed for life.
Gerry Tobin, 35, was shot in a "ruthlessly planned ambush" in August last year on his way back from the Bulldog Bash in August 2007.
Mr Justice Treacy told the defendants they would each serve minimum terms of between 25 and 30 years.
"A totally innocent man was executed with a firearm in broad daylight on a busy motorway for no reason other than that he belonged to a different motorcycle club than yours," he said
Sean Creighton, 44, from Coventry, described as president of the south Warwickshire Outlaws, will serve a minimum of 28 years and six months after pleading guilty to murder and firearms offences.
Simon Turner, 41, from Nuneaton, was said to be the gang's sergeant-at-arms, and was given a minimum term of 30 years for murder and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Malcolm Bull, 53, of Milton Keynes, will serve 25 years and Dean Taylor, 47, of Coventry, will serve 30 years.
Karl Garside, 45, Dane Garside, 42, and Ian Cameron, 46, all of Coventry, were also found guilty of murdering Mr Tobin. Garside was given a minimum term of 26 years, Dane Garside 27 years, and Cameron was told he must serve at least 25 years in jail.
"The utter pointlessness of what you did makes his murder more shocking."

lol Surely they'd be accessories? That wouldn't carry the same charge would it? I don't know the difference, you're right, enlighten me, I'm sure you're about to. Do they all get the same sentence because they all effectively had an equal part in his premeditated murder? In the same way Hitler was responsible for the deaths of 6 million Jews although he never actually gased a single one? Are 'Ivor' and 'C5' equally responsible for the Menezes murder?

I don't understand how 7 people can go down for 1 murder when only one of them pulled the trigger. If that is the extent of your legal knowledge and understanding I am surprised that you can understand how to tie your own shoelaces
slip ons.

Accessory is an Americanism. the UK offences include aiding and abetting counselling and procuring an offence to be committed, and all of them carry the same penalty.
equally where an offence is a joint venture, all parties are guilty of the principle offence regardless of who pulled the trigger.. as for the menezes shooting...Murder? not in a million years...but then you knew that when you threw out the stinky bait

Well I hope that his family get ample compensation
But I can see no good reason why the officers that carried out the shooting should be convicted of any crime...but there is a whole thread(or ten) all about it if you feel the need to make judgements

Best left to a jury then. My grasp of legal knowledge and understanding at least extends to that.
