5 years of the mythical new VFR in pictures

We take a look at some of the concept bikes that have appeared in the press predicting the launch of a new VFR

IT'S PROBABLY the most talked about bike in current years. The mythical new VFR has been rearing its photoshopped head for over 5 years now, with publications across the world having a go at creating what their factory insiders (who are these people?) allegedly say the bike is going to look like.

If this bike actually existed and the publications were genuinely in touch with this 'factory insider', you'd think they'd be able to get their hands on actual sketches, not to mention final designs of the VFR that's 'just about to be launched'.

Here we have a selection of some of the finest 'next generation' VFR concepts from the past 5 years that - funnily enough - have never been launched.

What's 'mythical' about the VFR?

It's just various takes on a Fat CBR600 mixed with a bit of existing VFR.

Flo

Beats me why there should be a new VFR.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the old one. Each version is a little more refined than the last, each answers the criticisim levelled at the one before and when something genuinely new appears on the model existing owners throw up their hands and wail like Honda have commited some kind of heresy. The thing cost a fortune to develop in the first place, no re-vamp is going to push it to the front of the sales chart so why not carry on evolving the concept and make some of that outlay back? No one I've ever spoken to has been disappointed with their new Viffer.

Photoshop cut and shunts can't compare with sexy new paint and a bunch of freebies thrown in, imho...

(And before someone says it, no, I don't work for Honda. )
