2009 Harley-Davidson V-Rod Muscle

Candy Red but no Matt Black for Harley's super-butch V-Rod

Posted: 30 July 2008

Visordown Motorcycle News
Very nice but where's the Matt Black option?

THE 2009 Harley-Davidson V-Rod Muscle will be available in candy red when it is made available at the end of the year.

The new bikes features a huge 240-section rear tyre, new airbox and double exhaust.

Aluminium wheels are used on the bike for the first time and the water-cooled motor kicks out nearly 125bhp at the rear wheel.

The 60-degree Revolution 1250cc V-Twin is liquid-cooled and features Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI), dual overhead cams, four-valve heads, and a five-speed transmission. The engine is rubber-mounted in a hydroformed steel perimeter frame. A shell covers the large-volume airbox located over the engine. A five-gallon fuel tank is located below the seat on all VRSC models. The engine is tuned to produce up to 125 hp at 8250 rpm and up to 85 ft-lbs. of torque at 7000 rpm.

We like in the red, but still reckon the bike should get a matt black finish option too.

Get one of these instead,Suzuki M1800R .

Better looking, better reliability, fatter rear tyre,Gixxer Forks,Gixxer brakes,Faster,£4k cheaper, and you don't have to wear all that "Hardley" Gear, the list goes on.

Yup, very nice and all that ^^
But, it ain't no Harley...and that's what does it time & time again.

I've had a few Harleys but I doubt I'll ever own a Japanese cruiser - no real kudos see.

I could own a Triumph Rocket 3 though.

I like Harleys and love the sound but I'm not prepared to pay their inflated prices for their products and servicing.

Hedgetrimmer,

I have a Suzuki Intruder 800 but hubby has a VN1500 Kwaka Mean Streak looking similar to the V-Rod, with everything I am aware of with the Harleys I would still accept one as a gift!

Just cannot afford to shell out the readies myself................................

not really into the  cruiser thing just yet !!, but the v-rod does it for me..i'm allways left thinking that the japanese versions, just dont do it 100%, and im by no way way saying the yanks build great things , spose its bit like the italians with there sportsbikes !!,

http://www.roadcarvin.com/sites/default/files/images/08_VRSCAWA_V-rod%20105th_0.preview.jpg

and yet when i said i like v-rod to a harley owner , got told it wasnt a proper harley....typical owner as he spun around in disgust  throwing his tassles at my face

nice that, I have a one off bobber and also a nice 1402 fighter, and love ma choppers also...as oppsed to a Harley I would rather have an old Indian unit stuffed in a Paughco frame as there are shit loads of Harleys on the road, and in all honesty if you want kudos then get something like a Confederate Warith

And that comment sums up the 90% of the Harley owners mentallity.

The British bike fraternity had the same attitude to "JAP CRAP"

but look who's laughing now ?

i'm getting into the lazy old vtwin thing since i got my bt1100...not really a cruiser, but the next bike will be i think...i like the idea of a nearly 2.0ltr engine, a stupid amount of torque and no revs,

the street rod i like...matt black an well 'ard....jap ones would be just fine as well,

don't care really as long as its got 2 wheels, and a vtwin engine.....

Big Nige....................How do you know what I "sound like"

Have you been ringing those numbers again LOL

Come on guys..Most of you are British aren't you ? Go for the King of the power cruisers..Rocket III...I love it...
Posted: 07/08/2008 01:13

i sat on one of those at the bike show, they are massive couldn't beleive how big it was

you would need to be a big feller to ride one of those, i do like them though and would love to own a british built bike.

but for now ill have to stick to jap crap (ahem), as it does not look like they are going to build a 1100 daytona sportsbike

.......yet

I've ridden a Rocket III, many Harleys and the odd Jap cruiser ..and the Rocket III couldn't possibly be compared to any other cruiser. Some of the Jap bikes are almost in the same league as Harley but if you're in for buying a Harley I don't think you're the same type of rider that buys a Rocket III. That would be like walking into Dixons for a telly and saying, ahh sod it, I'll buy a DVD player instead..

I agree, the Rocket III is in a niche on it's own, there are no other bikes like it.

It's not my cup of tea but I've never rode one,I might like it.

Very happy with my Zuki M1800 though,  apart from the cleaning !!

I think you would be surprised how easy they are to ride..Admittedly i am a big fella...6'4" and about 280 lbs but a mate of mine bought the first one in South Australia when they were released and he is only half my size...They are very well balanced..Triumph obviously put some thought into these bikes when they built them...Brembo brakes, all the good gear..They have a heap of torque..Good horsepower..I keep with all the Jap bikes to about 110 to 120 but then the revvers take over up top..Gives them a hell of a fright when your still sitting along side them through the gears..Had a run with a ZZR1200 Kawasaki that had a good exhaust and stuff..He jumped me at the lights but pulled level with him and stayed that way right through to 4th gear but then i backed off...Thought 160 kph was a bit much at 7.45 in the morning on the way to work..They are just one of those bikes you either like or dont..Most Harley riders dont like them but we all know why that is..If you get a chance to go for a ride on one,do it..I think you will be pretty impressed... Nothing wrong with the Jap crap though Tim..I still have an old 1976 Kawasaki z1000 and still love it..Japs make good bikes

Looked at the M109r...Not a bad looking bike at all i thought but decided on the Rocket III mainly for the horsepower..But would own a 109R if i could afford another bike

Nah, Harley & Triumph is more akin to choosing between Bang & Olufsen & Bose.
Over-priced but stylish and cool as well as doing what it says on the box.

Choosing the Japanese one gets you a Panasonic - you know it's ok, quite good even but it isn't in the same league as the other 2 and you're not entirely sure you shouldn't have actually bought a Sony.

Ahh bless Nige,

It is wonderful to see that the power of debate is still here.

If you would like to donate a Harley to me I will willingly accept it, till that day or the day I get some real money and become a millyonare( In Del boy voice) I shall stick with my Suzuki.

Anyone wishing to donate a Harley to me please feel free to pm.
