NIALL MACKENZIE checks in from a freezing Misano circuit on the launch of Suzuki new GSX-R600.

“This morning a freezing bank of fog was hovering over the circuit, putting a halt on proceedings, but with the help of tyre warmers I’ve just had my first session out on track.

For 2008 Suzuki has concentrated on giving the GSX-R600 more midrange and it feels much freeier revving. The engine has a much lighter feel to it and while the top end power is the same it’s considerably improved in the mid-range. The alterations have got rid of that slightly lethargic feeling of the old machine while it still has the killer top end rush. It’s very impressive, as is the updated fuel-injection system, which was just about faultless, and the slipper clutch is smooth too.

One part I can’t quite get over is the new brakes, amazing. Two fingers is all you need, any more and you might get an eyeful of front tyre!”

Thats good to hear especially on a GSXR !! In the past years the brakes have always been a bit dodgy !!

I always wonder, when an ex superbike rider tests a road bike, just how impressed they really can be, especially when Suzuki pay his wages

But you're missing the key point in this Suzuki are Japanese and are still operating under the illusion that WW2 is still ongoing, only on a more covert basis. They've managed to fine tune the exhaust note to pass subliminal messages into the minds of impressionable UK patriots. When we reach the K9 model the sleepers wil be awakened and go postal on us all.

It's true zzzzzak told me
