Chris Richmond ... suffered burns and bruising

A DOG-WALKING couple are wanted by police after garroting a motorcycle rider with their dog-lead.

Chris Richmond, 23, of Newton Heath, Manchester, was out with friends when they came across a group of teenagers with a 125cc motorcycle. Richmond took the motorcycle for a spin and rode past a couple of middle-aged dog walkers.

He was catapulted from the motorcycle when the walkers stretched their lead across the path. Richmond was taken to hospital suffering burns and bruising on his neck.

Following the attack, Richmond told the Mirror: “I remember the woman giving me a dirty look beforehand, as if to say, ‘You shouldn’t be doing that. Perhaps I shouldn’t have been but that was no way to react. You don’t expect that from middle-aged people. They could have called the police, who would have moved us on. I couldn’t breathe and thought I was going to die.”

ride on the road then!!!! I've seen kids riding their crossers on paths near my kids school before now. The temptation to shove them off and teach them a lesson may be too much to resist if they get close to me and it's school run time!

I think if your attitude is "They could have called the police, who would have moved us on.." Then you know damn well that what you were doing was anti social.

I'm not saying two wrongs make a right, but if he had been traveling at a sensible speed (particularly with pedestrians and animals around) there is no way they could have garotted him with the lead.

What is needed is are more areas for people to ride bikes, otherwise this will keep on occuring.

Chav giving responsible bikers a bad name, no sympathy, end of.

Posted: 06/06/2012 at 11:33

C Lacey... spot on... all of it...

Off road riding areas are disappearing rapidly over here...

Posted: 06/06/2012 at 12:27

Chavtastic...

Granted they could have killed him, and that (even though a few less chavs out there wouldn't be a bad thing), is inexcusable.

This COULD have been a premeditated murder people!

But a chav on his arse for being an arse is not so bad... :-)

this isnt news-worthy, if i wanted to read shi* like this i'd buy 'the sun'

Bunch of fookin hypocrits...

Everyone I know who rides now got there first go on a clapped out bike on a field where they shouldn't have been and have gone on to be responsible road legal riders.

Bikers are turning into a bunch of pendantic old pricks who forget that they were once young - we are turning into the ramblers association, no wonder we are going to die out inthe next ten years

Posted: 06/06/2012 at 14:57

He's 23 and he wants to ride a teenagers 125... are you sure hes 23 and not 13?
Not the best idea to garrote somebody but its still pretty funny.

And i agree that off road area are few and far between but this kind of moron woulddn't use them even if they where there to be used.

p.s. @visordown.

"Following the attach,"

In MN the snowmobilers ride in the ditch. It is legal as long as your on the house side of the ditch and not the road side. Every ditch has a easment and it is legal to ride in EVERY ditch with interstates being the only exceptions.
One guy got angry about this and did the same thing with a dog runner. He is now serving a sentance in prision for decapitating a man. He was 100% in the wrong. So are these idiots. I don't give a shit if you don't like what they were doing. I don't care that they were not doing it illegaly. It was not hurting anyone therefore does not justify lethal force to put a stop to it.
These people should also be in prision. And all you f***ers commenting are complete and total hipocrites. We have all riden somewhere we "are not supposed to be." I would beat the people to an inch of their life and see just how funny they think it is then.

Ambler - spot on. It seems that anyone past the age of 30 has the memory span of a goldfish.

Should have been riding on the road? WTF are you talking about? They were kids on a 125 you flog.

Posted: 06/06/2012 at 17:46

Michael Ambler - spot on comments dude. We are all becoming a bunch of PC W@nk£rs.

If I had to be judges for doing some of the things that I did on bikes as a youngster, I should have received 73 death sentences.

As a footnote to that statement, I now consider myself to be law abiding to the extreme, so we don't all turn out to be reprobates.

Ridin in a field (yeah, I did that too) and riding where people are walking their dogs are two different things. Not defending the old pricks with the leash, though. What they did was even more irresponsible and stupid than what moronic Chris Richmond did.

Posted: 06/06/2012 at 19:33

Yea but what about the dog did it walk home without a lead? or did they recover it after garrotting the youth.

Posted: 06/06/2012 at 21:36

What breed of dog was it? a retriever would be good, then it could go get the lead back. Sorted!

Posted: 06/06/2012 at 22:05

Most amusing. You lot are great....only us Brits could almost decapitate someone for riding a 125 near our dog. Still, not all a loss, he could neck double for the Kurgan in the next Highlander movie.
The Jubilee weekend continues!

ANY LEGAL BRAINS OUT THERE CAN TELL US WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE OUT COME HAD THE LAD SUFFERED A FATAL INJURY? HOW WOULD THE DOG WALKERS PLEAD ,IT WAS"NT A FUGIN ACCIDENT! IT WAS A DELIBERATE ATTEMPT TO CAUSE INJURY ,OR WORSE .ITS LIKE SAYING HE KEPT HEADBUTTING ME IN THE FOOT YOUR HONOR. THE COUNTRY IS FLOODED WITH PIT BIKES ,WHEN DID YOU LAST SEE ONE IN THE PITS ?THE CHINESE ONES ARE USUALLY IN BITS.FEW KIDS HAVE FIELDS FOR GARDENS SO WHERE THEY GONA RIDE? MY FIRST RIDE WAS AN A7 IN THE WOODS AND FIELDS BUT NOW SADLY LIKE MOST OF OUR FIELDS IT HAS BEEN SUBJECTED TO DEVELOPMENT OF PROPERTY THAT NO ONE CAN REALLY AFFORD ..IF I WANT A RIDE ON THE BEACH I GO AT FIRST LIGHT IN THE SUMMER AND BELOW THE HIGH WATER MARK, EVIDENCE GONE BY NEXT TIDE .DOGS SHIT ON OUR BEACH AND NEVER BELOW THE HIGH WATER MARK ..

Some of the comments on here are odd, when i were a teenager in the 70's i often rode bikes where i shouldn't do to get a kick, we were young and wanted that thrill, i wonder how many of the people moaning about this kid did as i did back in the day.

Posted: 07/06/2012 at 10:22

As far as I can tell from this story both party’s are at fault.

Posted: 07/06/2012 at 11:30

Was he riding the bike with the owners permission ?
sounds like he nicked it to me !

Posted: 07/06/2012 at 12:58

Here's my 2 pence.

At 23 I would expect him to be sensible enough not to ride on the path especially where people are.

Posted: 08/06/2012 at 13:27

cannot believe most of the comments. The dog walkers should be jailed - after getting a severe beating to within an inch of the lives.

Posted: 12/06/2012 at 15:59

Don't belive all that you read in the press. There are always two sides to a story. The story in the press is all one sided as no one has asked the dog walkers what happened.
Many comments can be made but a true comment will never ever be made untill both statements had been made to the police and witness statements made.
A motorcyclest to me is one that is riding on a road ,insured and perhaps wearing a helmet.
A scroat in jeans on a field intimadating walkers and families is nothing more than that,a scroat.
Perhaps the dog walkers were doing just that,Walking a dog, perhaps the dog was on the lead, perhaps he went too close to the walkers and hung himself on the lead taking the lead and dragging the dog down the field, perhaps if he hadn't rode so close and between the dog walkers he might not of dragged the dog down the field , nearly knocking a disabled walker over and getting hurt himself......just perhaps i won't ever belive what "Visor Down" ever has to say again!
