A GANG of men responsible for the theft of over £250,000 worth of goods, including £100,000 worth of motorcycles and tools from CCM Racing have been jailed.

The raids, described by police as 'sophisiticated', took place over four months last year. The gang's biggest raid was on CCM Racing in Warfield, where seven men stole eight motorcycles and various tools after using oxy acetylene burning equipment, cutting down ram barriers and steel shutters in the process. They also immobilised the alarm system and moved a team transporter that was parked up against the entrance doors to prevent ram raids.

The gang, all wearing motocross equipment, rode the bikes across a nearby field to vans they had sat waiting.

The gang also stole a Subari Impreza car, worth £50,000 from Santa Pod and threatened to destroy it unless the owner paid them £5,000.

DC Paul Brown connected the gang's burglaries after he found a stolen motorcycle with a false number plate in Camberley. The judge sentencing praised DC Brown and DC Matthew Jobson for their ‘good old-fashioned police work’.

CCM Racing's motorcycles were never recovered. Seven of the gang that were prosecuted after they admitted the charges and were sentenced to a total of 20 years.

Daniel O’Keefe, 31, of Westcott Way, Uxbridge – five years. John Davis, 28, of Holmlea Road, Datchet – five years. Craig Wells, 22, of Chestnut Avenue, West Drayton – three years and eight months. Cary Grant, 24, of Bates Close, Slough, Berks – 18 months. Daniel Pope, 21, of Westcott Way, Uxbridge – six months, suspended for 12 months, 100 hours unpaid work and a curfew. Sumeet Kale, 27, of Trevor Gardens, Northolt – 12 months, suspended for two years, 250 hours unpaid work and a curfew.  Peter Ballantyne, 40, of Burton Way, Windsor – 15 months.

I'm Glad they got busted but I'm sorry but that is F%^& all for their crimes.

IMO what should happen is they should all have the same sentence of 5 years each (no suspended sentence bollox).
I May be a bit more lenient if all the items were recovered.

And no orders of compensation!
Why is that not standard as part of the sentence ?
Every time I read of a burglar being convicted they seem to get to keep the spoils.
I was awarded compensation when I was burgled and the guy caught, it may take years to collect,I dont care but I was not offered the opportunity to claim compensation, I had to ask for it before the case was heard.
So take note all of you.If ever you are in that position ask for everything you will have lost including the additional insurance premiums loss of income etc.
Make sure the criminals get stung.

I agree that thieves should be punished by being forced to pay back every penny but won't that just encourage them to steal more to pay off their debts ? I think they should all have to do community service every year for the rest of their lives, even after they are released. They can repair potholes, pick up litter, etc.

@Thoppa No, if they've learnt their lesson they should (at least try to) pay it back honestly. Otherwise, to deny a quite reasonable and just request to pay back in compensation would undermine the point of punishing offenders for committing such crimes in the first place.

Should of strung the fackers up, these people are just scum bag thieving twats without a care in the world of the pain and grief they create for thier victims

They can work it off.. Like someone posted, they can fill potholes, and pick up litter, repair vandalised phoneboxes etc, and the earnings that would be paid to someone for doing such work goes back into repaying the damages of their crimes and funding for the legal system to be able to pursue criminals of this nature more effectively.
