My S1000RR has landed.

All ran in and good to go.

Pure dead brilliant? I'll let you know.
Blimey, they're taking over the world.

Last week God liked me. First thing Monday morning just after BBC Breakfast’s Scottish weather woman predicted three days of sunshine an E mail popped up saying my new S1000RR had landed at Pidcocks. Mint! Some may say I’m boring as this is my second Beemer but why not as I never got tired of the first one. They look the business, are comfy as sports bikes get on the road and it gives me the best chance of keeping up with handy riders while instructing on track days(unless they are handy riders on BMWs that is). Not surprisingly my most commonly asked question on track days is, ‘so is S1000RR as good as everyone says then’? I have to say the answer is in the question. That’s not to say it’s totally perfect so if I was nit picking I'd say the brakes on the latest R1 have a slightly nicer feel and the Fireblade still has a slightly more slick gearbox.

It’s wasn’t  instant fun however as I had to get 600 miles on the clock so Pidcocks could do the de restriction service which involves removing the 9000rpm rev limiter(£160.00). On day one I clocked 425 miles on my Focused Events track day at Oulton Park (is that some kind of sad record?) then on day two a round trip Rob Mac’s in Scunthorpe(he wasn’t in so no tea) finished the job off. With the beast unleashed my first job was to head down to Silverstone to entertain and instruct dealers on the Silverstone Stowe circuit. Steady stuff but still good fun. Apparently my new bike has a heavier crankshaft than last year’s model but unless you are a Superstock racer looking for the tiniest bit of extra traction I doubt if anyone could tell any difference. It comes with ContiSport Attacks as standard but I’ve heard lots of positive chat relating to the new Michelin Power Pures so I’m having some fitted as I write. I’ll keep you posted.

Watch out for the electrical cluster mine replaced under warranty, apparantly so have many others so much so there is a shortage in Australia.

Selling mine BMW suck over here.
