I have just bought a master cylinder repair kit for my Honda CB250RS and I'm a bit confused.
There are 2 seals that come with it and I can't figure out how one of the seals goes on the shaft. There is a large shoulder to get past and I can't see how the seal can stretch over it, The shoulder is simply too large relative to the seal diameter.
The cup seal (like a thick, dished washer) goes at the working end of the piston with the "cup" facing towards the brake fluid. The gaiter seal goes onto the lever end and is retained in the housing with a circlip.
I'll admit - whenever I buy an overhaul kit the piston is included, with the cup seal already fitted - like http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-CB250-RS-CB-250-RSDC-FRONT-BRAKE-MASTER-CYLINDER-REPAIR-KIT-/400206210833?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item5d2e262711#ht_1027wt_907.
