we used an old bit of a cardboard box to fashion a water pump gasket on an old cologne once... the gasket is still going strong a lot longer than the old oem one would have died lol

Lol Suzuki Mugged me on the price £25 each! Plus a new front tensioner blade at £45 plus £65 for the gasket set. All i can say is thank god no studs broke or unscrewed! Dunno if i bent em or they were already like it as the bike ran erm shit when i got it as a wreck. Could have been me though as i do cane bikes, fooked the gearbox on me kat and bent many valves on me gsxr750m. Have blown a head gasket on nearly every car i have owned! Can`t wait till i have finshed it, have put a lot of time and effort and a bit of blood (bloody ose clips) into it. Still looks like a shitter but is in far better nick (mechanically not looks)than most two year old bikes! Bit of a special as well with a nice alloy swinging arm, gs 1000 forks and wheels, bits from most bike makers and a yoshi 820 kit/straight through system/k&Ns/dynojet should go alright too. Looking forward to winter! If i could be bothered to paint and polish it it would be even better but then i wouldn`t want to use it over winter!

I have a Suzuki GSF600SV Bandit, and I've noticed that there's oil leaking from the bottom of the left side of the engine... Can anyone suggest what sort of gasket to use, or should I just use that stuff that comes in a tube?

 Thanks for your help

Find out which gasket is leaking, then goto your local dealers/factors and buy a new one.

If you dont want to do that, read this very thread.Theres one or two clues on what to do.

Would be mint if there then was a library of paper gaskets that you could download and print

Ducati 996 & Suzuki Goose

This is an old one.

Yes it would.  You put you gasket material in the inkjet and hit the button.  Then cut the sine out and off you go.

Well there's another use for my A0 plotter that I hadn't even considered. Cool tip- thanks lads.

The plotter should work better as the heavy waxed gasket paper wont go through the inkjet.

You need to get your self some hole punches, which are very cheap at most shows. Only takes a few minutes to carfully cut out a gasket. Good for the UJM's where you wait a week and pay top money (and postage) for a paper gasket.

Get a piece of wood and drill an 8mm hole in it. Lay cover on gasket and place on piece of wood with the soon-to-be-made hole over the hole in the wood.

Insert M6 screw through the hole in the cover and hit with hammer

Trim outer side of gasket once you've bolted the cover on.

I used to know a bloke with a very nice Triton. He used to paint Red Hylomar round the joints in crankcase covers with a small artisit's brush 'cos he thought it looked good
