Hi, i recently took my bike for an mot, and tester pointed out that my frame number was different to the one on the logbook, but the number plate was the same as in the logbook.

-Could i be in possession of someones elses logbook with their number plate on my bike?
-If the bike does have a number plate on it from a different bike how can i find out my real number plate?
-Can i use section 7 (changes to current vehicle) in the logbook to change my frame number in the logbook to the one thats on my bike?
-Could my bike be stolen?

Please help! matt

hpi check the frame number that is on the bike

chances are it is stolen or there has been a mistake at the dvla.

could be previous owner changed fram after a smash but not changed docs, do the check to see its not stolen and if not tell dvla of the change.

i'd be asking the previous owner for a refund ....

unless the frame number is only one digit out which may mean a dvla cock up (try and prove it)....

you could end up with a Q plate ....

or finally the frame could have been swapped, but why the logbook of the frame wasn't used is beyond me as it will make it harder to get the logbook transferred to it (so i believe) which again could mean you end up with a Q

Speak to the previous owner. Unless you nicked it of course. Someone on here does Hpi checks for a tenner.

It could have been a cock up at the dealers when it was registered - if there were two identical bikes going out at the same time they may have stuck the plate on the wrong bike. Maybe.
