On my Husky 610sms. It's coming from the top end I think I have stripped it down and checked the valve clearances (slightly out on one exhaust) is there anything else I should check before I put it back together?

Odds are it's the auto de-compressor clicking in and out on its spring. It's quite common with the electric start Huskies. Easy way to find out is to raise the tickover slightly and it should go away.

Big and clever.

An easy job for a hamfisted fool like myself Or will I be better off leaving it to the experts? Is there an easy way of checking it as the manual is as clear as mud?

Sometimes the tensioners can stick, take it off, squirt a load of WD40 in it, compress it a few times with your hand and then clean it out with an airline, put a SMALL amount of clean oil in it and compress it a few more time to make sure it doesn't stick. Put back on bike.

Husqvarna say that you are supposed to change the cam chain every 10,000 km BTW.

Okay, with my very basic knowledge it looks as if it is the cam chain as the tensioner is working fine but it is near the end of it's travel. Does anybody know how much a Husky dealer would charge to do this? Just don't want to get ripped off. Cheers.
