Ah yes had considered the nissans aswell, for some reason I never mentioned it my original post

Any other votes for the vannette cargo? The seem to be within my price range and an ideal size

Ok I know its all been done before.....

Suffering a slight accident whilst changing the cambelt on my fiesta (bottom pulley slipped and its pinged valves in pots 3 & 4 ) I may be looking to scrap it and get a van

I want something that is as carlike as possible, big enough to get a bike in (2 would be an advantage), reliable and economic on fuel. Im not fussed about speed but would be nice to be able to hold a steady 70-75 fully loaded on the motorway. Home servicing would be an advantage aswell

Im pretty limited on budget and dont really want to go over 2k, I can get a '97 dispatch/expert for 1000-1200 quid and an '00 for jsut under 2k.

Being a van Im presuming theres no problems with high mileage over 100k but should I be looking for any major problems with these specific vans?

Failing that anyone wanna sell me a van?

Beers in advance

I have a 99 expert , with 126000 on it , starts every day without fail, does decent mpg, 3 seats lets me do the school run, and you can JUST cram two bikes in.
Shares engine with all 309 405 406 type articles , ( and their citroen cousins) and is a NOISY fucker due to wind.
I love mine

Nope thats the Master like mine...
the Traffic is approx Despatch size....

Very approx. It's about a metre longer, it's wider and taller. Much nicer to drive and more mpg. Plus it's about double the bhp. So like I say very approx.

Just spoke to the ford place, if I get away with only 4 valves pinged Im looking at 180 quid in parts alone

There fookin fast around car parks too!

Good vans, especially in the hands of road raged up North Yorkshire men - thats when you realise just how well they handle, go and stop.

Transporters can be overpriced / overrated.

But;

One good thing in their favour though is the 'kombi' version with side windows and removable seats which turn them into people carriers or vans depending on what you need.

A handy plus point when your trying to convince the Mrs to get one on the driveway when she see's of the opinion a normal van will lower the tone of the neighbourhood.

+ there small enough for women to drive them happily - my Mrs wont drive my Sprinter as its 'too big'
