How much does it cost to convert say an XR650 to motard trim?

what exactly is involved?

Is it best to buy one already done or DIY?

right well, you can reckon on a grand on wheels , discs, tyres etc if new, about 600 if 2h.....plus allthe other bits you might want to do to it, as for the which is best...thats YOUR choice !

to do it properly lookat spending about £2000-2500 using brand new parts, this includes wheels, brake discs, caliper, M/C, front spring, rear shock and other odd and ends.

wheels, tyres,sprockets, 320mm disc , 4 pot calliper, 14 mm MC cost me 1500

To do the suspension if you are a fatty look at another 400

an unrestictive exhaust will start at 400

On a a new bike at 4200 it will add up to 6100

or you could buy already converted

Sideshow Bob has his up for 4250 on a 51 plate

Or I have mine up at 3500 on a w plate

I was considering selling my XR in trail trim if you wanted to buy a complete SM conversion package of...

Titanium Akropovic full system, As new Gold Talon hub / Gold Exel rim wheels, Uprated Front and rear springs, 320mm Braking Wave front disc, Talon 320mm caliper bracket, braking rear disc, Talon sprockets and spare cables / levers.

About £850 should get 'em.

Or the whole bike with both sets of wheels for about £3850.
