Yes Jump Starts, what are they exactly.

Just been reading the 2005 Championship website, and it says in racing they are forbidden.

So what are they please? :burnout:

You are kidding ???

when you 'jump' the start.........you set off before the flag or the lights say you should......reasonable enough to be forbidden ??

See what you mean.

But that is dead obvious though.

I would have thought that a race would be restarted in those circumstances upto 2 times before penalising a rider.

I thought it was some kind of dangerous pull away or something

Yeah - you're not allowed to bunnyhop over slower riders either.

Restarting a race is bloody time consuming, for both riders and organisors.
The actions of the inconsiderate few cause enormous headaches for everyone involved.
Hence jumpstarts are a pain in the arse and selfish. Offenders should be put at the back of the grid or barred from the event.

It's made even worse when organisors let some get away with it with impunity. No names no pack drill.

yeah there are some race organisers who do seem to allow jump starting to go on and do nothing about it worst case i've ever seen was at a race our bikes were on the 1st and 2nd row and the 2nd and 3rd row jump started by a whole row cos the starter was hesitant with the flag so rather than red flagging it and starting again they just carried on with half the grid jump started and the other half wondering what the fuck had happened.

When i asked why they hadn't called a restart i was told that they had tried that before and everyone crashed so they dont bother now, which kind of makes a mockery of having a starter really, might aswell just go when ya feel like it

there does seem to be instances of some riders are more equal than others and rules only apply to those less equal hey ho thats racing i suppose
