I woke up this morning ,not to a blowjob as i would have liked , but instead to the sound of pissing rain and howling winds ... my first thought was wow i wonder if my bike will still be upright in this , as my side stand makes it sit a little high .....

Well the little fucker was on it's side ... not cool
But saying that there was not a scratch on it ,and it started second time off the button so all is well
Except .... the throttle is sticking big time , which looked really cool as i filtered whilst accelerating with no hands as i ajusted my goggles this morning ... i bet that must have looked SO cool ( i got a few confused looks i can tell you)

So i will be trying to fix it tonight ... how hard is it to shorten my side stand on the 525 so it leans slightly more and is not so easy to topple over ?
Thanks chaps

I've got a shortened sidestand off my 520 & IMO it's too short. You're welcome to try it & perhaps swap if you like it.

Your choices are:
buy a trailtech sidestand leg, supermoto length £30 plus P&P I bought the whole thing, it's well made and the short length works even with SM wheels and 25mm shorter suspension.

Or chop a bit off the end, knock out the plastic foot and stick it back in the leg cos the KTM part is hollow all the way up till it goes square section.... thats what Moby did for MMM

I woke up this morning to the sound of gales and thought the same thing. A Husky with the dreaded "suicide side stand" in a gale, bollocks. Ran upstairs and it was still sat bolt upright.

A bloody mouse can fart and it falls over but a mini hurrican and it sits there

Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.

I make sure I'm parked between two other bikes cos mine always falls over.

Oh, and the throttle thing, Its probably just pushed in on the handle bar and sticking on what ever is at the end of it. Just pull it out a bit.

I made my bros do it on purpose because it makes it easy to take pics if I'm moving.

I alays set my throttles to stay open when I was riding Nortons - my party trick was to ride no hands and clean my goggles while belting down the outside lane on the M1 at 100mph. I've always been a sensible fella

Sorry not to have met up with you in town yesterday Matt (thanks for the birthday wishes btw )

And Daniel (also Beanie and a couple of others) - sorry I didn't say goodbye at the Ace - didn't see you around when I was leaving. Er, you may like to know when I bought a new sidestand I shortened it by shaving plastic off the bottom with a 1" wood chisel

The nylon foot on my stand has an insert 1&half inches long, so i ran a 14mm drill down the hollow of the stand cos there is a lip inside after the first inch &half(14mm down to 12mm), carefully drilled down one inch ,then cut one inch off leg then refitted the foot and now its spot on, if that helps...Oh and Zebby, nice to see you yesterday..

Everybody goes about their stand problem the wrong way!

It only takes a minute or two to sort.

Take a junior hacksaw to the the plate that the stand butts up against when it's fully open and down. If you chop 1mm away the stand will swing around further to the front of the bike thus making the bike lean over a little further. You must only take out a little at a time until the angle is perfect. Sorted.
