What year bro ? 03 onwards should start on the button pretty well even from cold. Mine is a 470 2002, and now it just slips on the starter when cold, this is down to a worn out spague clutch. When warm its fine.

It's my old one Scoot.... you know the one that starts on the button every time, but not from cold.

All I can say mate is take teh plug out dry and clean it as you will have flooded it. From cold petrol on, choke no throttle and a proper kick from the top after let the decomp click.

Give me a bell tomorrow if you still have hassle... I can honestly say out of the two Bergs I've had that one has never not started.

are you kicking it.... or trying it on the button???

You bought a berg

When cold (or hot for that matter)

Choke on (Not when hot)
No throttle
Decomp lever in
Half a dozen gentle kicks
Decomp lever out
Gentle kick until it clicks
And BOOT the f***er all the way down.
REMEMBER NO THROTTLE, IT IS TEMPTING, BUT DON'T DO IT.

Always worked with my Supercomp and half a dozen bergs I've started for guy's that were having trouble.

Check the tightness of the right hand (ae your sitting on the bike ) allen screw on the inlet manifold, the choke cable is attached to it and actuating the choke can sometimes loosen it, sucking more air in than intended.

All of the above

valve clearances@ 1/8th of a turn
kicker decomp adjustment at 2mm
stator nice and shiney and oiled
earth connections on regulator all nice and clean and tight
make sure the cable running down to the generator cover has not got water in it ( water gets in at the top where the sleeving ends)
spark plug cap is screwed into the end of the spark lead nice and tight
carb rubbers tight and not split
exhaust manifolds not blowing around the head joint
dellorto fuel screw between 1.25 and 1.75 turns out
fuel pipe not kinked
air filter clean

the first 3 in this list have a massive effect on starting

Bob,

All of the above are correct...it's my old bike and you know how easy it is to start. I even switch it off on the start line as I'm that confident of it starting.

Sometimes the vibrations or a good knock can undo and de-adjust stuff though.

That wall on the NMRO certainly adjusted my berg, couldn't start it after the impact.
