Aprilia sxv electrical problems

Hi, I have been using a 550 sxv on the road for about eight months. Periodically when I go to start the bike I turn on the ignition, the dash lights up as usual but when I touch the starter button the electrics die completely before the starter has even turned over. This has happened when the bike was hot & cold. It takes between 2 mins & half an hour for the electronics to come back on. Does anyone know why as its driving me nuts!

Sounds like a poor earth connection.Check the battery earth is tight and where it bolts to the frame.

check the solenoid box under the seat that the bolts are on correctly ,nipped wiring looms next to the head stock is a common one too and exhaust melted wiring on the l/h side mainly silmoto's, its a start for ya.

Hi, I have had a few issues with my sxv550 but the latest problem is the rear cylinder shuts down.

The bike starts fine but then the rear cylinder will drop out while the front cylinder runs fine, and it will not fire on the rear cylinder until I stop the engine either by the kill switch or just letting it stall, then start it up again no problem, bike runs fine, then... rear cylinder drops out again.

Also the neutral light flashes intermitantly.

Could it be an earth issue?

I have just replaced the ECU and regulator with no change, and checked as many connections as i could find.

Can anyone help??
